LINKS

I just added a new page to my blog with links. I have hundreds of links, I'd like to share with you. But this needs time.
If you know really great blogs of miniature artists, sites with tutorials, miniature shows - please let me know.

added on 16. June 2010
I decided on a "Link of the Day". If you want to see only them, just click on "Link of the Day" on the right of "labels".

Veroniques House

Veronique made also very nice miniminihouses. It was difficult to choose, which one I liked most. She also had a winterhouse with snow. I should have taken both!

Beary Red Riding Hood

The second I saw this sweet Beargirl, the scene popped up in my head - she'll get a Little Red Riding Hood scene of her own. But this will take some time. I'll keep you up to date...
Red cheeks - definite another of Veroniques bears.

Another one...

Another toy from Veronique Lux. I love the red cheeks of the bear! Because he is such a nice little fellow, he got this wicker settee from the stand of Josefine Parnell. It's so small and suits him perfectly. Some day, he will get a cozy pillow.

Buddies

I can't believe it. We are owned by 3 cats, but I love miniature dogs. In the last post were toy dogs - these are "real"...
Made by Anton Reve (ebay). Aren't they cute. They look a little bit unhappy - that's because they were on their way nearly 1 month, altough they were shipped very fast from A.R., but the post needed a long time and they were held at the customs authorities. Perhaps they were tested for rabies...

That's him...

That's the toy dog, the girl from the last post is holdig in her arms. At least a relative....

25 May 2010

I fell in Love...

with the miniatures from Veronique Lux and bought a lot of them for my toy house.
Here is the first photo. Handpainted boy and girl with dogs. The right one is a toy dog! Not a real one. Veronique made this absolutely clear! Photo of the matching toy dog will come soon...

Back again

My stand at the KDF in London. And now SHAME ON ME! I haven't had the time to make much more photos of the show. When I finally had a little time to stroll through the hall on Saturday, I was happy to buy some miniatures and didn't thought about photographing. In the next days, I'll show you some of my purchases.
First of all - these little (what else) metall toys. I found the cow and the horse at the stand of Franzy's Puppen & Teddy Paradies. Next year I'll try to make a shop with antique toys and I think, they will fit.
Tomorrow I'll try to make more photos with daylight. The weather in Berlin is more like April, and when the sun was finally shining in the late afternoon, I haven't had the time. In London the weather was so beautiful - I'd like to turn on my heels and go back...

1.........

My FAVORITES!
I don't know, how they are called in english. Perhaps you can help me there. In Germany we call them Tütenpuppen. I just call them "Vanishing Dolls", because they vanish into the paper funnel.
Now I know.... in London they told me, these Dolls are named "Pop Up Dolls".
I loved them, when I was a child and I have to make them in mini! At the KDF I'll have these 5:
The next posts will come after the 23. May with photos from the KDF. I'm so exited and I'm looking forward to see all these great miniatures.
Have a good time! Perhaps I'll see some of you at the KDF - that would be nice!

2....

Again some miniatures in quarter scale. Height: 1,5 cm Width: 0,7mm
But I have also these rusty cans in 1:12.

Countdown 3...

Tomorrow I'll fly to London. So today I'll post 3x.
First: my Halloween treat buckets in QUARTER SCALE (1:24). I'll also have some in 1:12. They are all OOAK.

Cookery books

I made 5 cookery books in 1:12 and 1:24 and forgot to shoot a close up of them. Only this photo exists, because Heinrike was so curious to see, what I was doing (a few weeks ago).
My mother in law always had clippings in her books. And in loving memory, I placed also some in my miniatures.

11 May 2010

Trays

I love cows and chicken - so I made some trays. I needed days before I could make up my mind, which one I like to keep for myself. The pictures are partly printed and partly painted.

Good Luck Charms

It's a little bit early for the New Year, but time flies.... These marzipan charms come in a tin box - each one with a different design.

For the sweet tooth

I can't deny it - from time to time I have a very sweet tooth. But I don't like liquorice! Only the view of this colourful brand. My husband, on the other hand, is a little bit liquorice-addicted - the sharp black one. But they don't look so cute.
Rainer Stadler made these wonderful glas containers for me. They are angular and they have a sanded lid. That's something very special and a lot of work. Not until I edited the picture, I saw that some candies slipped into the lid. But all the miniatures are now packed and sealed for London and I couldn't make a new photo - sorry.

Lago Maggiore Reminiscence

When we were at the Lago Maggiore in 2008, we found a lot of those stone piles on the way from Ascona to Brissago in the woods. I liked them so much, that I made some for the garden. The stones are from the shores of the LagoMaggiore and whenever I look at them, I sea the lake glisten in the sun. And then I made some watering cans. I love turquoise, but I made also some in green and silver. I could watch them getting rusty, while I was working at them. Sorry - forgot to hot-galvanize them...

9 May 2010

I forgot completely...

...to show you the paperhats for the clumsy painter. I made them in 1:12 and 1:24.

Tulipe bulbs

I love ancient roses and tulipes. So I made some tulip bulbs in presentboxes or nets. But I don't garanty that they'll sprout...
Next spring I'll make the corresponding flowers.

8 May 2010

Coldframe

What a pity - I forgot completely to put a cent in the pictures. But the scale is always 1:12 (half scale). When I showed the coldframe to my husband, he only said that I should clean the glass - - - and that after I made it carefully dirty...

7 May 2010

Gardeners delight

The next days I'll post some of my supplies for the complete gardener. As you see, they are field tested.

6 May 2010

Work in progress

When I have a scene "in progress" I always decorate it with my pasteboard and all the accessories my painter and decorater needs for his work. He is a little bit clumsy and makes a mess, but the heck with it! He is such a darling.
I like scenes with little "accidents" and so I made some of the wallpaints for the KDF.

5 May 2010

Halloween Popcorn

I don't know, if it is poisened, but I would be careful....
Better try the batcookies - but be quick, they are OOAK!

Antique Ormolu enamel furniture

Years ago I bought these beautiful antique Ormolu pieces. But now I see, that I'll never make a scene with them. So I will part with them heavy hearted. But I think miniatures shall live in a nice surrounding. I will bring them to the Kensington Dollshouse Festival. They are in suberb condition.

These beauts are made in Austria circa 1890 - presumable by Erhard & Söhne - who manufactured extremly fine Miniatures between 1870 and 1920. It's handpainted enamel with gilt bronze.

One of Janas new books

Jana made a lot of books for the KDF. This one with old tales and beautiful illustrations. I have to get one!

3 May 2010

And now for something completely different...

Because I can't make food all the time (I would gain to much much weight), I have to make a break with something - yes - completely different.
Oops - there are only a few posts now, but I already revealed myself as a fan to quirky humour. First "Keeping Up Apperances", then W.C. Fields and now Monty Python. Oh dear!

2 May 2010

At least one sharp picture today

Because I couldn't stand the blurred picture of my butter cow, I show you more of my baking boards. I tried the setup for my table at the KDF. At the top you can see the pastry bowls and the chain of lights with the flower-lampshades.

Butter with cow

Today I made pictures of ALL the miniatures, I'll take with me to London. But I failed to make 1 sharp picture of the butter. I hope you can visualise the elavated cow. Perhaps I will try it again with another camera, but for today the daylight is gone and I like to have natural light together with my lamps.

Baking Day

When I have such fresh eggs, I have to bake a nice little cake. Please note, that the eggs are brown on the outside and white on the inside.
I will also have baking boards with Ravioli or cookies (half scale & quarter scale).

1 May 2010

Farm Fresh Eggs

I love chickens and roosters. When I saw the wire basket in a shop in Berlin, I had to made them in small. I bring one to London in half scale and in quarter scale.
The egg crate is a little bit old, but the eggs are fresh... from free running chickens of course!
